The eebrake is the ultimate brake from start to finish– a unique and patented design developed and refined by relentless engineering, both at the computer and through real-life testing…. all executed with attention to every detail, precision craftsmanship and use of only the highest quality materials. The eebrake continues to set new standards that all other high performance road brakes are judged.
The new eebrake builds on all the great features and performance of the original while making improvements in many areas. Every part has been evaluated for improvement potential. In the eecycleworks tradition, we have done everything possible to make the best brake even better. Dramatically higher overall stiffness for even better modulation and more power, easier installation, more tire clearance, tool-less pad centering, and cleaner look. The newest eebrake uses forged aluminum for the major components providing the highest strength and durability. Even the bushings have been modified adding significantly to the system stiffness and design integration. Through the use of FEA these structural improvements have been made without increasing the weight. The standard mount version front is 82 grams and rear 80 grams without pads.
The eebrake is offered individually front and/or rear in the conventional version and the new Dual Mount version for bikes using the Shimano Direct Mount Standard.
Perfect Cable Alignment
The eebrake cable adjuster pivots as the brake is applied, optimizing cable alignment during brake actuation. Also, the cable housing extends to lower tip of the cable adjustment screw eliminating added friction. That means, as the brake lever is squeezed, you get even and friction free braking power.
Change Brake Pads With Ease
Change brake pads easily and quickly without tools or fighting with the common super tight force fit. Our patented system uses Shimano style pads but, allows for easy pad installation and removal without the use of tools.
Clean Cable Path Provides
eebrake’s feature a unique, “Cross Cable Path” that aligns the brake cable over the center of the brake. This alignment provides a graceful, clean line and moves cables into the “wind shadow” of the frame, providing an aerodynamic advantage over traditional brakes with their cables and lever arms off to one side of the caliper.
Precession Pad Centering
The tool-less adjustability provides super precision with ease and “Set it – Forget it” pad movement consistency through its patented “Link” pad travel proportioning system. No more annoying pad rub and constant need to re-center. No more re-adjusting the main fixing bolt after initial installation or messing with spring tensioning screws to align the brake pads.
“Quick strut” quick release opens wide enough to easily clear a 28mm tire. One simple flip of the lever allows quick and easy wheel removal.
The newest eebrake further optimizes wide rim compatibility from 18 mm to 28 mm in width. The overall geometry accommodates the wider rims that are popular today and the old school narrow ones.
The leverage has been fine-tuned adding slightly to the brake’s power and providing that power more consistently through the brake’s operating range. The leverage of the new eebrake is optimized to work well with all the current levers; including those from Shimano, Sram and Campy.
The eeBrake Dual Mount
Lightweight, Powerful & Precise Control to fit with frames/forks using the “Direct Mount” standard
The eebrake Dual Mount (DM) is the same basic brake as the eebrake with all its benefits including light weight, braking power, braking precision, and adjustability. It has been specifically designed for use with frames and forks that incorporate the Shimano Direct Mount Standard. (This system uses 2 frame/fork mounting studs in place of the conventional center one.) The eebrakes pivot/lever system is naturally narrow and has ideal cable alignment for the Direct Mount application. The eebrake DM is compatible with cranks and power meters which require clearance at the chain stay, such as the Stages Power Meter.
eebrake DM Front
The 2016 eebrake DM is our standard front brake for Direct Mount brake fitted bikes. The 2016 eebrake DM uses a new forged aero-light front arch that provides aero, light weight and outstanding braking performance in one beautiful package (78 grams). This model fits the rear of the Trek Emonda and other frames that use a direct mount brake on the rear at the seat stays. (Some frames with aero seat tubes and low seat stay/seat tube junctions that use Direct Mount brakes on the seat stays may not provide clearance needed for the eebrake.)
eebrake DM Rear
The 2016 eebrake DM rear is ideally suited for under the bottom bracket Direct Mount brake road and TT frames. The DM provides a narrow brake profile for clearance at bottom bracket/chain stay area inside of the crank for crank arm fitted power meters including Stages and Pioneer power meters. The “across the center” eebrake cable routing works perfectly in the space limitations under the bottom bracket. The eebrake DM rear brings the eebrake’s light weight, functionality and braking performance to the under the bottom bracket location. (74 grams)
eeTop & eeNut
(Stem top cap/bolt and expander nut)
The eeTop and eeNut set new standards for extreme lightweight while beautifully providing the functionality expected of eecycleworks. The eeTop and eeNut, at 10 grams, save 30 grams over the typical top / nut assembly.
The eeTop top cap & bolt are elegant, ultra lightweight and functional. The recessed cone shape provides greater tension stiffness. This increased stiffness facilitates precise headset adjustment and sets it apart from other lightweight caps. Black anodized 7075-T6 aluminum with a laser-etched graphics. Uses standard M6 x 1 thread. Fits 1 1/8″ Steerers / stems.
Tightening torque = +/- 1Nm (for bearing adjustment).
The eeNut is a unique and patent pending design providing ultra light weight, solid locking action and ease of installation in one efficient package. The integrated height setting/ alignment skirt makes installation a snap. The eeTop uses a 6mm hex for installation. Black anodized 7075-T6 aluminum with a laser-etched graphics. Fits steerer inside diameters from 22.8mm to 25mm. Fits standard M6 x 1 top bolt thread.
Tightening torque = 4-5Nm.
